“I could try to be defensive, I could come up with something to try to change their mind… [But] my argument isn’t going to win, my humility is going to win.”
-Alex Berg [Mars Hill staff: U-District]
A new outlet has been introduced to the University of Washington campus, and already it has made its mark. Amidst the rush and chaos of bustling college lifestyles, students have made time each Sunday night to worship with the new U-District branch of Mars Hill Church. Founded in the Fall of 2009, the magnitude of support was made apparent by the first service where nearly 350 students packed the seats of Kane Hall to participate.
U-District branch staff member Alex Berg a look into the Mars Hill community and the story of how she came to Christianity despite a secular upbringing. Her journey began with a curiosity which led her to lay the foundation on which her faith currently resides.
For Berg, her path toward Christianity was not one that came without effort. “There wasn’t a clear turning point. It was something I wanted to seek more, learn more, and I just kept going. It wasn’t something like a light switch, it was something I pursued”
The relevance of doubt, as well as the struggle to uphold a religious identity were present issues in Berg‘s walk. Through persistence and personal exploration of the Christian beliefs, Berg found the passion to impact and the means to do so within the framework of Mars Hill Church.

I am really glad we have a page exploring spiritual identity…great job Grace!
