Tattooing originates back to 400 BC where it became a Eurasian practice.

“Old ladies ask me, “why did you do this to yourself? What are you going to think about when you are old like me?” And I tell them, “cancer, probably.” – Jerry Wagner

With skin as his canvas and a needle as his paint brush, Jerry Wagner, a Deep Roots tattoo artist, spends his days tattooing local Seattleites. The art of tattooing originates back to 400 BC and has grown into a widely practiced form of art.

More than thirty-percent of college-age adults get tattoos every year so Wagner has his work cut out for him. Wagner’s love for art, and nine years of experience make him a sought out artist.

Deep Roots Tattoo, on University Way near the University of Washington, has a positive reputation within its community. With his graffiti style, and passionate approach, Wagner is an artist in all forms of the word.

From the colorful art on the walls, to the lively tattoos on the people inside, Wagner has a knack for “look at me”  artwork. Wagner believes that bright colors truly bring the tattoos to life.

Customers come in with an idea and leave with a permanent piece of artwork that they can share, remember, and embrace everyday from then on. Artists like Wagner, who utilize their creativity and talent, share their gift with the world through the art of tattooing.
